Bob Midthun (pronounced Mid-TOON), a self-taught artist, has been studying art and painting watercolors for some 20 years. His commissioned works are included in many collections in the Conejo Valley where he is a well known Watercolorist.

In his early years Bob was employed as a photographer and motion picture cameraman for the U.S. Department of the Interior and, during World War Il, was an aerial photographer and cameraman serving in the U.S. Naval Air Corps. These experiences proved to be excellent training for painting.

Between photographic and watercolor careers, Bob became prominently identified in engineering and construction circles and a Construction Manager specializing in Pipelines and related underground activities.

In his professional field, Bob saw virgin landscapes, small farms, and historical landmarks disappear in suburban sprawl, streets and freeways. These changes motivated him to record nostalgic Americana with paint and paper. Favorite subjects are rural landscapes, old barns, wagons, windmills, Victorian houses and lighthouses.

Diverse careers have provided Bob with a special perception of life about him. At 85 he is busy writing and painting watercolors for his patrons and collectors.

His inspirations on a daily basis are first and foremost his beloved "Mimi" and last but not least "Thor."
